There are multiple SIP phones available on the market. Although we provide Grandstream phones which come preconfigured you may find a customer has their own SIP/VoIP phone or you may wish to purchase your own.
Every phone behaves somewhat differently, however the most important pieces of information (which your customers can access themselves if you grant access to customer accounts) are:
- Username
- Password
- Server
Typically, a phone can be configured by finding the IP for it and the logging into it via a web browser. Each manufacturer should have some useful documentation on their websites.
To view the settings, if either yourself or a customer log in to the Customer Portal, select Extensions and choose the extension you wish to connect to. Once you have clicked on the extension, click Connected Devices.
then the Connect a handset button.
This will open a dialog containing the SIP username, password and server address which will all need to be entered into the relevant areas of the handset configuration.
NB: Numbers have a different colour to letters in the password!
